What Shower Installation covers
Showers fall into a few main types: mixer showers that blend the existing hot and cold supply, electric showers that heat cold water on demand and need their own electrical circuit, and power or digital showers that use a pump to boost pressure. The right type depends on your existing plumbing and, for electric showers, whether the electrical circuit is already in place.
Suitable for
- Replacing an old or faulty shower with a new one of the same type
- Upgrading from a mixer shower to an electric shower, or vice versa
- Fitting a shower as part of a bathroom or en-suite refit
- Adding a shower to a bath where one isn't currently fitted
Not suitable for
- Properties where water pressure is too low to support the shower type wanted, without a pump being added
- Full wet room installations, which are scoped as their own project due to the tanking and drainage involved

How the work is carried out

Checking existing pipework, water pressure and, for an electric shower, the electrical supply and circuit.

Preparation
Isolating supplies and removing the old shower, tiling or enclosure where being replaced.

Installation
Fitting the new shower, valve or unit, running a new electrical circuit where an electric shower requires one, and reinstating tiling and sealing around the enclosure.

Testing
Commissioning the shower and checking pressure, temperature and for leaks before handover.
Typical timescale
A like-for-like shower swap is typically completed within a day. Fitting a new electric shower that needs a dedicated circuit, or where tiling needs making good, can take a day or two longer.
Cost guidance
Shower installation typically costs £200–£600 per job in our area, with a straightforward swap-out of an existing shower at the lower end and a new electric shower needing a dedicated circuit at the top of that range. We provide an itemised quotation after a site visit rather than a fixed headline price.
Limitations and exclusions
- The shower unit itself is supplied to your specification unless a supply-and-fit package is agreed
- Any new electrical circuit for an electric shower is installed by a suitably qualified electrician in line with BS 7671 zoning requirements
- Full re-tiling of the enclosure beyond making good around the new shower is quoted separately

Can I have an electric shower fitted anywhere?
It needs a dedicated electrical circuit run from the consumer unit, sized to the shower's power rating, and installed by a qualified electrician to the correct bathroom zone rating — we confirm what's involved on survey if a new circuit is needed.
Why is my shower pressure weak?
This is often down to the type of system feeding it — a mixer shower depends on your incoming water pressure and tank arrangement, while a power or digital shower uses a pump to boost pressure. We can advise on the right type for your system during assessment.
Can you fit a shower over an existing bath?
Yes, this is a common and usually straightforward installation, provided the existing pipework can be adapted and there's a suitable surface for a shower screen or curtain rail.
