Does The Weald Group hire subcontractors?
Yes. We work with subcontractors across most trades, alongside day-rate and price-work arrangements, and we're building this network on an ongoing basis rather than only when a specific vacancy is open.
Do you offer day-rate or price-work jobs, or only subcontracting?
All three, plus labour-only and casual work. Tell us what suits you on the application form — most tradespeople we work with do a mix, and we're flexible about matching work to how you prefer to be paid.
What trades are you looking for?
All the trades behind a building project — groundworks, bricklaying, carpentry, roofing, plumbing, gas, electrical, plastering, tiling, painting and decorating, and more. See the full list on the application form; if your trade isn't listed, select "Other" and tell us.
Do you pay for stopover jobs?
Some jobs are far enough from home to need an overnight stay, and we're upfront about that before you commit to a job — tell us on your application whether stopover work interests you, and we'll only offer it if it suits you.
Is there a route to permanent employment?
For the right people, yes. We're a small, growing company built by tradespeople rather than run by an office — subcontractors we work with regularly and rate highly are the first people we think of when a permanent role opens up.
What do you look for in an application?
Real experience, the right registrations and insurance for the trade (Gas Safe, NICEIC, NAPIT, CSCS and similar, where applicable), and evidence of past work — photos, a portfolio, or a social media page showing completed jobs all help. We review every application individually rather than filtering automatically.
