Smart heating, lighting and home automation
Smart Home Installation
Smart home installation covers fitting smart heating controls, lighting systems and home automation devices, integrated with a property's existing electrical and heating systems.

Definition
What smart home involves
Smart home technology ranges from a standalone smart thermostat through to whole-house lighting, heating zoning and automation systems. Installation involves both the physical fitting (wiring, hub placement) and configuration to work with the property's existing systems and your preferred smart home ecosystem.
Suitable for
- Smart thermostats and heating zone controls
- Smart lighting circuits and switches
- Whole-home automation systems as part of a renovation or new build
Not suitable for
- Properties with electrical systems needing an upgrade before smart devices can be safely fitted — we advise on this during assessment
Process
How the work is carried out
- 01
Consultation
Understanding what you want to control and your preferred smart home ecosystem.
- 02
Design
Planning device positions, wiring and hub requirements.
- 03
Installation
Fitting devices and wiring, integrated with existing electrical and heating systems.
- 04
Configuration
Setting up and testing the system, including app configuration.
- 05
Handover
Talking through how to use the system and providing setup documentation.
Typical timescale
A single smart thermostat is typically fitted within a visit; whole-home systems take longer, confirmed after a design consultation.
Cost guidance
Cost depends on the scope of devices and any wiring changes needed. An itemised quotation follows a consultation.
Limitations and exclusions
- Notifiable electrical work as part of the installation is certified in line with Part P requirements
