What Artificial Grass covers
Artificial grass installation involves excavating and preparing the ground, laying a compacted permeable sub-base with a geotextile membrane, then rolling out, jointing and securing the synthetic turf before dressing with sand or rubber infill and brushing the pile upright. A well-prepared base is what determines drainage and longevity, not the turf itself.

Rolling out, jointing and securing the artificial turf, then applying infill and brushing the pile to finish.
Typical timescale
A typical domestic artificial grass installation takes one to a small number of days on site, depending on the area size and ground conditions. Confirmed after survey.
Cost guidance
Artificial grass typically costs £40–£90 per m² in our area, supply and installation including the sub-base, with ground preparation, drainage requirements and the grade of turf pushing price toward the top of that range. We provide an itemised quotation after a site visit rather than a fixed headline price.
Limitations and exclusions
- Removal and disposal of significant existing hard landscaping (e.g. old patios or sheds) is quoted separately
- Sites with poor drainage may need additional excavation or a soakaway, priced once ground conditions are seen
- Artificial turf does not offer the same wildlife or soil health benefit as a natural lawn

How long does artificial grass last?
Good-quality artificial grass, properly installed on a well-prepared base, typically lasts in the region of 10 to 15 years before the pile noticeably flattens or fades, though this depends on footfall, sun exposure and the product specification.
Does artificial grass need any maintenance?
It needs far less than a natural lawn — no mowing, feeding or watering — but an occasional brush to lift the pile and a rinse to clear debris and pet waste keeps it looking and draining well.
Can artificial grass be laid directly over an existing lawn?
No. The existing turf and topsoil need to be excavated and replaced with a compacted, free-draining sub-base — laying artificial grass straight onto soil leads to an uneven surface and poor drainage over time.
