What Disability Adaptations covers
Some home adaptations for accessibility are funded, in whole or in part, through routes such as a means-tested Disabled Facilities Grant from the local council, rather than paid for privately. This work usually starts from an Occupational Therapist assessment identifying what's needed, followed by a schedule of works that has to satisfy the funding body's requirements as well as being built to a good standard. It covers the wider range of adaptations beyond the bathroom specifically — access ramps, stairlifts, door widening, threshold alterations and similar — working alongside occupational therapists, social services and, where relevant, the funding body's own surveyors.

Carrying out the adaptation once funding is confirmed, with documentation provided for the funding body as required.
Typical timescale
The funding and approval process (particularly a means-tested Disabled Facilities Grant) is often the longer stage and is outside our control; once approved, the building works themselves are programmed and confirmed individually depending on scope.
Cost guidance
Cost depends entirely on the scope of adaptation agreed with the Occupational Therapist and, where relevant, the funding body, so we don't publish a generic price range. We provide an itemised quotation to support your grant application or funding route following assessment.
Limitations and exclusions
- We don't carry out Occupational Therapist assessments or administer the Disabled Facilities Grant application ourselves — that sits with your local authority and its OT service, though we can advise on the general process
- Funding approval is not guaranteed and is decided by the relevant funding body based on assessed need and, for grants, a means test

Do you handle the Disabled Facilities Grant application for me?
No, the application and means test are administered by your local authority, usually alongside an Occupational Therapist assessment. We can provide the itemised quotation the application typically needs and carry out the approved works, but the application itself is between you and the council.
What if I need adaptations but don't qualify for a grant?
We carry out the same adaptation work on a privately funded basis if a grant isn't available or doesn't cover the full cost — the building work and standard are the same either way.
